Located next to the Houses of Parliament in Victoria Tower Gardens, the new UK Holocaust memorial will honour those killed and persecuted during the Holocaust. A co-located education centre will contextualise the memorial and raise awareness of the social conditions that give rise to extremism and racism.

The sensitivity of the project was matched by that of its setting. Following an international competition, the winning design by Adjaye Associates, Ron Arad and Gustafson Porter + Bowman went through a rigorous planning process.
The project moved quickly, so good team communications and quick responses to new challenges were essential to its success. Working with a large client team, our process began with stakeholder engagement workshops to fully explore and understand the complex agendas at work. View analysis sessions and study options helped us select and agree on the most important viewpoints. Using the very best photography to capture the quality of light required for such important imagery, we produced forty-seven verified views to illustrate the project’s impact on the many sensitive viewpoints across London, and seventeen illustrative images to convey the experiential and material qualities of the proposal, with a contextual palette of materials including patinated bronze fins. The project was granted planning permission in July 2021.
