A dialogue between nature and architecture.

JNcQUOI Comporta is a new 164-hectare luxury leisure destination, south of Lisbon. Part of luxury lifestyle brand Amorim's portfolio, the resort comprises 34 hotel pavilions, 64 villas, restaurants, bars, and spas, and will offer guests and residents exceptional facilities and exclusive access to some of Europe’s most beautiful coastline and nature reserves.

Designed by Vincent van Duysen, this highly contextual project carefully balances texture, materiality, light and shadow to create a dialogue between nature and architecture that is unique and specific to its ancient pine forest location.

Hayes Davidson was commissioned to create a range of marketing collateral to support the launch of the project to a discerning clientele, and highlight the unique aesthetic and sensory beauty of its location, including around 30 still images and two films, one showing the overall Comporta concept and location, and another offering an interactive walk-through experience to support Comporta’s sales strategy and showing different villa typologies.

In a deeply collaborative process, we aligned our creative process with the overall ethos and brand aesthetic for JNcQUOI and Vincent Van Duysen's design. We used low-tech, analogue and hand-drawn methods for image planning and storyboarding to mirror the timeless, hand-crafted approach of the architecture. Films evoke the grainy, nostalgic aesthetic of a Super 8 handheld camera, complete with light leaks, to convey a sense of treasured personal memories.

We directed extensive on-location filming to capture the authentic sights, sounds, textures, light and vegetation, and create assets that were deeply rooted in the experiential beauty of this landscape. A unifying visual language references the simple yet luxurious palette, natural materials and the tones and textures of stone, wood, water and bark. A bespoke soundtrack combines live commissioned music with the sounds of the ocean, indigenous birdsong, and the rustling of the pines.

Our work for JNcQUOI Comporta showcases the full extent of our capabilities as a creative consultancy and visualisation studio, and features one of the most technically advanced films we have made to date.
